Who and what is Colorado OutSpoken?

Colorado OutSpoken is a news, information, and entertainment television program, produced by LambdaCom Corporation, which focuses on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. LambdaCom is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in 1989 in the state of Colorado. (Read more about LambdaCom here.) Immediately upon its formation, LambdaCom began producing The Lambda Report, a weekly LGBT news program made available on public access cable television in Denver, Colorado. Later, The Lambda Report began airing on Denver's second PBS television station, KBDI Channel 12.

The Lambda Report became Colorado OutSpoken when a conservative religious organization began publishing an anti-gay newsletter called The Lambda Report. Since LambdaCom's resources were insufficient to successfully defend its copyrighted name, the name change was the only option available to avoid confusion.

In 2006, Colorado OutSpoken changed its broadcast frequency from weekly to monthly, primarily due to funding that was insufficient to pay for studio rental each week. The format was expanded from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, and more emphasis was placed on discussion of topics of interest and importance to the LGBT community.

Colorado OutSpoken currently has 13 active volunteers. The Lambda Report and Colorado OutSpoken have been in continuous production since 1989. Currently, in addition to being broadcast/cablecast on KBDI in several Colorado communities, each episode of the program is made available on this website and others such as YouTube and Google Movies.
